Is your dog struggling on slippery tile floors or hardwood floors? Are they slipping and sliding all over the place? Are they elderly or have they been injured? If that’s the case, stick around because I may have just the solution for you.
You see, our older dog pulled a muscle, and he was having trouble walking on our Saltillo Tile floors. We had to come up with a solution fast because he didn’t want to go to any of his usual haunts in our house.
We have beautiful Saltillo Tile almost all throughout our home, but sometimes you do what you have to do. I’m sure many of you have some type of hard surface in your own home as well—tile, hardwood floors or vinyl.
If you are having the same problem, I’m going to give you the solution that we came up with to determine whether it might work for you. It was too good not to share, so keep reading.
In order to make pathways for him relatively expensively, we bought this beautiful (yes, this is sarcasm) inexpensive industrial grade carpet from Home Depot and placed it down our hallways using carpet tape. It was a very simple fix. It’s not the most attractive solution, but we would do ANYTHING to help our boy.
I’m sure you’ve also seen the doggy booties advertised for this particular situation, as well, but we didn’t want to stress our boy any more than he already was, so the carpeting seemed the most logical solution for us. Of course, this was a very personal decision, so you may want to try those instead.
Now I know it’s not the most attractive way to take care of this problem, but it’s an inexpensive way and it worked. So, if this something that you think might help you, give it a try. If it works for you, please let me know. I would love to hear your stories.
