West Texas is among the locations with the most significant dog overpopulation issues. Regretfully, Texas shelters are constantly filling, and numerous pet dogs don’t make it out alive. Last year, the Odessa Animal Shelter needed to put down 3,000 pets. Then, a non-profit group that was established in January 2019 decided that something had to be done. They collected numerous resources and started carrying pet dogs out of the shelter and to forever homes. Recently, they delivered a group of 99 pets far from the shelter, significantly decreasing the number of dogs euthanized.
The Incredible Organization
Pet Rescue R United States is a non-profit organization in Texas. They started with a goal to conserve as lots of pet dogs in kill shelters as possible. Since then, they’ve been transporting pets away from the Odessa Animal Shelter.
In just a year, the organization saved over 5,000 canines. They recently worked with Dog Is My CoPilot to transport 99 pets away from the kill shelter and to their permanently families.
” We don’t just send them from one shelter to another shelter and wish them the best of luck,” said Dana Tinley, Vice President of Dog Rescue R Us. “There are actually people that are waiting in their vehicles with already approved applications and home checks. They’re just waiting to get their new fur animal.”
So, as quickly as these puppies get off the transportation, they’re ready to start their brand-new lives. Their permanent households eagerly await their arrival, which is the very best surprise for any dog.
Rescuing Dogs One Step at a Time
The two companies will continue to transfer pets away from the Odessa Animal Shelter. They are preparing to host at least one transportation every month. The majority of the canines are transported up north to locations that are much safer for dogs, such as Washington and Canada. Specifically, those areas have more laws in place for the protection of animals.
Dog Rescue R Us also wants to grow even further in the future. They hope to ultimately broaden to save cats, too. A plot of land was donated to them to help them build a facility for saved animals. Nevertheless, they’ll require lots of contributions to assist that dream come true.
A group of Boy Scouts will begin developing a fence on that land as a part of their Eagle Scout project. It’s simply the beginning of a big improvement for countless canines in requirement.
